Terms of Use

Twelv · Last updated: August 2026

Twelv is pre-launch. These terms cover our website and waitlist today, and describe the Twelv service as designed. They are under legal review and will be finalized before the service launches.

1. Agreement

These Terms of Use are an agreement between you and Twelv, an Ontario corporation ("Twelv," "we"). By creating an account, subscribing, or using the Twelv service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Who may use Twelv

Twelv accounts come in two kinds. Parent accounts may be created only by adults (18 or older) with the legal authority to consent on behalf of their child. Child accounts may be created and used only with the verified consent of a parent or legal guardian, as described in the Privacy Policy. The parent is the account holder of record and the subscriber; the parent is responsible for the accuracy of the information provided at signup.

3. Subscription, trial, and billing

Twelv is a paid service: $1.99/month or $12/year on the web; $2.99/month via the Apple App Store. Pricing differs by platform. New accounts include a free trial of 30 days with no payment card required. At the end of the trial you will be asked to make a deliberate decision to subscribe; if no decision is made, the account is paused and handled as described in the Privacy Policy.

Web subscriptions are billed by our payment processor and may be cancelled at any time from your account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. App Store subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple under Apple's terms; cancel through your Apple ID settings. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. Prices may change; we will give existing subscribers at least 30 days' notice, and changes never apply retroactively.

4. The charity share

A fixed share of Twelv's subscription revenue is donated to our twelve charitable partners every month. The exact percentage and published donation receipts will appear here at launch. This is a statement of company practice, not a representation that your individual payment is a charitable donation; subscription payments are not tax-deductible.

5. How Twelv works — product rules

Each profile holds up to twelve photos; adding a thirteenth retires the oldest. Connections are symmetric: both sides agree before anyone is connected. Feeds are chronological and bounded. There are no public like or follower counts. Replies are private by default. We may evolve these features, but we will not introduce advertising to the service.

6. Acceptable use

You and your child agree not to: harass, bully, or threaten anyone; post content that is unlawful, sexually explicit, hateful, or that exploits or endangers a minor; impersonate another person; attempt to contact children you or your child do not know; misuse invitations; probe, disrupt, or reverse-engineer the service; or use Twelv for commercial solicitation. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules, immediately and without notice where a child's safety is involved.

7. Your content

You (or your child) own the content posted to Twelv. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, store, display, and transmit that content solely to operate and improve the service. We claim no other rights. We do not use members' content for advertising or marketing without separate, explicit written permission from the parent.

8. Parental responsibility

Parents are responsible for supervising their child's use of Twelv, for the truth of consent representations made at signup, and for decisions made from the parent account. Twelv is a tool designed to make a child's first social experience gentler — it is not a substitute for parental judgment.

9. Termination

You may close your account (and your child's account) at any time; data handling on closure is described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these terms, for non-payment after the trial, or where required by law. Where reasonable, we will give notice and a chance to respond — except in cases involving safety, where we act first.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under applicable consumer protection law that cannot be limited by contract.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Twelv's total liability arising out of or related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not apply to you.

12. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Ontario, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring claims in your local jurisdiction.

13. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we will notify parents at their verified email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. Continued use after that date constitutes acceptance. Changes affecting how we handle children's information follow the fresh-consent process in the Privacy Policy.
